The History Of Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning

Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning is one of the fastest growing franchises in North America, with well over 225 locations in nearly every state - hard to imagine we just started in 2006. So how did Oxi Fresh go from one location to the best carpet cleaning franchise opportunity available?

2006

The Beginning

Jonathan Barnett broke into the highly competitive world of carpet cleaning when he started Oxi Fresh of Denver during the summer of 2006. Thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit and good business sense, in just a few months he established a total of 17 territories in five states.

2007

Building the Brand

A properly trademarked name and logo is vital to protecting the identity of your business. During 2007, Oxi Fresh received the marks for our logo, the name "Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning," and the phrase "The Way Mother Nature Cleans®." By the end of the year, Oxi Fresh added 70 territories, for a total of 87 locations in 23 states.

2008

New Offerings, Services, and a First

Where many companies have growing pains after a successful start up, Oxi Fresh continued to show healthy results. By the end of 2008, we added tile and grout cleaning to our service portfolio, acquired the toll free number 1-877-OXIFRESH, and had 145 territories in 38 states.

Oxi Fresh also received its first award from the Franchise Business Review (FBR). Based on an independent survey of franchise owners, Oxi Fresh was ranked #13 in the Franchisee Satisfaction Awards! We were also ranked #10 in the Cleaning and Maintenance category.

2009

Awards and Recognition

The FBR’s award in 2008 was just the beginning of the industry recognition Oxi Fresh would receive. In 2009, the FBR again included us in their Top 50, this time ranking Oxi Fresh #2 in Franchisee Satisfaction for its Mid-Sized business category and #3 in the Cleaning and Maintenance category.

This was also the first year Oxi Fresh was named by Entrepreneur in their Franchise 500®, coming in at #308. We were also ranked in several of their subcategories, including Low Cost Franchises (#68), Top Home-Based Franchises (#85), and Top New Franchises (#19).

Along with all of this attention, Oxi Fresh received the mark for "The World's Greenest Carpet Cleaner®," joined both the U.S. Green Building Council and the Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association, and ended the year with 196 territories in 44 States.

2010

Powerful Tools

In 2010, Oxi Fresh launched both its enhanced website and the new, state-of-the-art Customer Relationship Management system. This comprehensive software suite transformed how franchisees control their schedules, track returns on marketing investments, complete their payroll, and manage their customer databases and employees.

2010 was also a year full of awards. Entrepreneur magazine ranked Oxi Fresh as #391 on its Franchise 500®, #9 on its list of Top New Franchises, and #30 on its list of the Fastest Growing Franchises. The FBR again ranked Oxi Fresh in a top position, this time coming in at #7 in the Franchisee Satisfaction Awards and #4 in the Cleaning and Maintenance Category. Finally, the Franchise Times placed Oxi Fresh at #9 in their Fast 55, a list of the fastest growing new franchises.

By the end of the year, Oxi Fresh had reached 223 territories in 44 states.

2011

A Busy Year

Oxi Fresh continued on its way to becoming the #1 carpet cleaning company in the world. In 2011 Oxi Fresh redesigned its marketing materials, launched a new franchising website, held its first national convention, its president Jonathan Barnett appeared on Fox Business News, they received an EPA certification on a core product, and formed a Franchise Advisory Council.

While all this was happening, Oxi Fresh jumped up over 200 spots in the Franchise 500®. They were ranked #126 overall, #3 for Top New Franchises, #63 for Fastest Growing Franchises, #26 for Low Cost Franchises, and #34 for Top Home Based Franchises. In another big step forward, Oxi Fresh moved up the FBR’s Large System category for the Franchisee Satisfaction Awards, where we came in at #29 overall and #11 in Cleaning and Maintenance.

Oxi Fresh also found itself on a new ranking list this year when it was included in the Inc. 500|5000, an annual publication from Inc. magazine. The list complies the fastest growing, privately held companies in the United States; Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning came in at #1525 overall, #80 in Consumer Products and Services, and #33 for Denver Area Businesses.

Oxi Fresh ended the year with 230 territories in 43 states.

2012

Building on the Foundations

In 2012 Oxi Fresh focused on providing its franchisees with new tools designed to help them grow their businesses. The company added new internal systems, advanced training materials, email marketing, online quotes, and much more.

2012 saw Oxi Fresh win numerous awards and accolades. Entrepreneur ranked the company as #135 in the Franchise 500®, #62 in Fastest Growing Franchises, #19 in Low Cost Franchises, and #30 in Home Based Franchises. The Franchise Business Review awarded Oxi Fresh the #44 position in its Large Systems Category and the #11 spot in the Cleaning and Maintenance Category. In the Inc. 500|5000, Oxi Fresh earned the #3500 position, was ranked #178 for Consumer Products and Services, and ranked #66 for Denver Area Businesses.

At the end of 2012, Oxi Fresh had 236 territories in 44 states.

2013

Advancing the Clean

2013 was a fantastic year for Oxi Fresh. The company updated its upholstery cleaning system, added the Total Odor Control program, and launched its sandless wood floor cleaning services. Oxi Fresh also earned its certification from the Carpet and Rug Institute, a leading organization in the cleaning industry.

Oxi Fresh launched numerous other projects during the year, including the creation of its first radio advertisements and the release of Online Scheduling. Now customers anywhere in the US or Canada can go to www.oxifresh.com and schedule a cleaning with just a few clicks.

In 2013, Entrepreneur ranked Oxi Fresh #452 in the Franchise 500® and earned the #84 position in Top Low Cost Franchise category.

Oxi Fresh ended 2013 with 250 territories in 44 states.

2014

Going North

Oxi Fresh may have started in Colorado, but we've expanded every year and have quickly become a nationwide brand - except we're not just nationwide anymore. In 2014, Oxi Fresh became an international brand! We opened our first locations in Canada and are thrilled to be working with the committed entrepreneurs of that nation.

Oxi Fresh also launched our Local Search Program this year. This comprehensive initiative is designed to help our franchisees climb to the top of local online search and help them become the number one carpet cleaner in their area.

In 2014, Oxi Fresh was named Forbes Magazine’s #3 Top Franchise to Buy; we also earned the #484 spot on Entrepreneur Magazine's Franchise 500 and the #38 spot in the FBR’s Franchisee Satisfaction Awards.

Oxi Fresh ended 2014 with 270 locations across Canada and the United States.
2015 was a busy year for Oxi Fresh. We hosted our third national convention and introduced a variety of new programs designed to help our franchisees grow and develop their businesses.

Giving Back

2015 was a busy year for Oxi Fresh. We hosted our third national convention and introduced a variety of new programs designed to help our franchisees grow and develop their businesses.

In 2015, Oxi Fresh also began supporting Water.org's mission to help communities around the world get access to clean drinking water. They've helped over three million people so far, and Oxi Fresh is proud to support them by donating every time a customer books a cleaning online at www.oxifresh.com.

In this year's Franchise 500, Entrepreneur magazine ranked our carpet cleaning franchise opportunity at #475. We were also ranked #39 in the FBR50.

Oxi Fresh ended the year with 292 territories throughout the U.S. and Canada. 

2016

Full of Stars

The team at Oxi Fresh always takes pride in our franchisees. Their commitment to quality customer service has helped set our brand apart and allowed us to beomce one of the top cleaning companies in the nation. Their hard work meant that, by the end of 2016, we had nearly one hundred thousand reviews averaging 4.6 out of 5 stars on our website.

Seeing all those reviews was one of the best rewards we could have hoped for, but we were also thrilled to jump over 250 positions to the #216 spot in Entrepreneur's Franchise 500. Our brand was also named #56 in top Home Based Franchises, #42 in top Low Cost Franchises, and #77 in Fastest Growing Franchises.

Oxi Fresh was also featured in Franchise Update magazine, FranchiseUSA magazine, MySocialGoodNews.com, and we appread on BusinessNewsDaily.com's "50+ Franchises for Every Budget" and Franchise Gator's list of the Top 100 Franchises (#81).
