Franchising USA Magazine Highlights Oxi Fresh Franchisee in Veteran’s Profile

Broken Arrow Carpet Cleaner, Douglas Green, Shares His Journey from the Marines to Entrepreneurship

Broken Arrow carpet cleaning franchisee Douglas Green was the focus of Franchising USA Magazine’s most recent Veteran’s Profile. This segment dives into the stories of service members and how their time in the military impacted their entrepreneurial journeys.

For Mr. Green, the story brings to the fore one major theme: tenacity. Douglas served in Marine Corp, a prestigious institution for some of America’s most elite and committed soldiers. While an active duty Marine, Mr. Green found himself regularly abroad; he served in Thailand and Japan and performed tours of duty in Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE.

It was during that time that Mr. Green endured multiple injuries to his spine, knee, and shoulder; Douglas also began suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. But these injuries were not the only thing gained from his time in the Marines.

“But, like I said, I learned a lot during my time as a Marine,” said the Broken Arrow carpet cleaner, “and chief on that list was the value of persistence. Never once did I feel like I couldn’t be a successful business owner, and that’s a truth I hope other disabled military veterans will embrace.”

    The Indefatigable Mr. Green

Upon leaving Marine Corp, Mr. Green was a 100% disabled veteran, but he had a dream – to be an entrepreneur and business owner. He saw his injuries as just another obstacle in his path rather than the end of his journey. And so, after arriving home, he opened two businesses that he ran for over a decade

But his injuries were a limiting factor in the work he could do, and so he began exploring new opportunities that would both capitalize on his leadership and organization skills and account for his physical disabilities. “That’s where Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning comes in,” said the now leader of Oxi Fresh Carpet Cleaning of Broken Arrow, “they are an eco-friendly, fast-drying franchise concept with a history of helping military veterans become business owners.”

Oxi Fresh, a member of VetFran, is a technology-driven carpet cleaning company that has spent years building a powerful business support system and roadmap for new franchisees. These systems include everything from an online scheduling software system that manages appointments, automated marketing tools that streamline the process of reaching customers, and a business support platform loaded with powerful tools.

The company also offers a dedicated Scheduling Center that answers customer calls and schedules appointments, online training, powerful local and national SEO, and much more. All of these tools have helped Mr. Green to serve customers in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Jenks, Muskogee, and Bixby without having to be out in the field.

“Oxi Fresh’s model provided me with a roadmap to pursue growth and allowed me to run my business despite not being able to physically go out and do the work,” said Douglas, “I hope that my becoming a franchisee with this brand serves as an example to other disabled veterans that they too can pursue their own entrepreneurial dreams, and I believe that franchising is a great means by which to do just that.”
